Why Speed Training for Soccer?

A soccer player will repeatably sprint anywhere between 10 - 60m during a game. To
support play, close down or break out to attack opponents.
Therefore Soccer speed is the ability to maximally sprint in a linear or straight line
direction on a soccer field.

To attain this particular skill at a high level you are required to increase :

1. ACCELERATION -to achieve your speed faster

2. STRIDE LENGTH - to cover more ground in front of you

3. STRIDE RATE - to achieve more steps you take per second

4. SPEED ENDURANCE - to reduce the slowing down effect of repeating many of
these short sprints throughout the game.

Agility and co-ordination are two of the many attributes required to
become a successful player. Complex movements such as dribbling,
turning, passing and intercepting often necessitate quick and large
changes in speed and direction and correctly executing skills requires
good body co-ordination.

Dates are 4/4, 4/11, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 and 5/16. Cost is only $60 for 6 sessions. No more than 12 players will be accepted per age group/clinic so do not delay in registering: Full = Full! All sessions are at Jupiter Farms Park.

TOPSoccer in Jupiter!

Interested in volunteering for our TOPSoccer program? We need directors, coaches and buddies!

A buddy is typically a teenage partner for a special needs child, helping them through the activities. It is extremely important for the special needs child that the Buddy is the same person every week. Buddies will get credit for their volunteer hour commitment at their respective schools.

Please email floridasoccercoach@gmail.com with any inquiries or to volunteer.

U14 Girl\'s 98 Win 2012 Palm Bay Phoenix Cup Championship

The weekend of November 17/18, the Girls '98 Blue team won the championship at The Palm Bay Phoenix Cup! After losing to their northern arch rival, South Brevard Lady Phoenix, in the opening round game by a score of 3-9, the girls shut out the rest of their opponents to earn a second chance in the finals.

Before the final match the team regrouped and made significant adjustments to their game to compensate for South Brevard's strong points. The final score was 4-2 in an amazing come back to win the championship. Gianna Merigliano scored a hat trick with her 3 goals. Amy Hoagland scored 1 goal. Ashton Royal had 2 assists and Gianna Arcuri had 1 assist. Mackenzie McMichael had 4 saves in goal.

Madison Moore and Jenna Villas teamed up to completely shut down the Lady Phoenix's top scoring threat (who scored 5 goals in the opening match). Nicole Anclade fought a brutal battle with the Lady Phoenix's 6 foot, 200 pound forward and shut her down also.

For the entire tournament, the girls scored 15 goals and keepers, Morgan Stephan and Mackenzie McMichael, combined for 13 saves in goal. This championship win vaulted the girls into 14 place in the state rankings. Their next tournament is the Orange Classic in December.

Great job girls!
